Investigation of Nanogrids for Improved Navy Installation Energy Resilience

Military bases perform important national security missions. In order to these missions, specific electrical energy loads must have continuous, uninterrupted power even during terrorist attacks, adversary action, natural disasters, and other threats of interest the military. While many global military established microgrids that can maintain base operations critical grid disconnect events where outside is unavailable, potential cause fail shed loads. Nanogrids are because they protect individual in event microgrid failure. We present a systems engineering methodology analyzes nanogrid configurations understand which may improve resilience by how much for from perspective. This then allows targeted deployment nanogrids within existing infrastructures. A case study small with an presented demonstrate help managers options preferable justify implementing resilience.
